Most have too many other responsibilities to stay on top of software updates.  Even if they did, issues can be difficult to solve for those without developers skills . Some issues damaging to business (like disappearing from search or infecting visitor's computers) can easily go unnoticed.

We cost much less than buying your own subscriptions for premium web software.

Additionally, we do things to protect that you don't get from regular hosting such as:

• Back-up your site to independent servers as well as your main server.
• Monitor up-time (constantly)
• Add a premium image optimization to see heavy images added don't slow your site down.
• Optimize databases, clear caches and update php versions for performance.
• Move you to new servers if there are issues (never needed so far!)
• Follow planned software development, so there are few surprises.

We restrict this to our clients only as we also charge much less than any commercial WordPress website maintenance service.

The Smart plan is right for most businesses who are not focussing on digital marketing on a weekly basis.

The Power plan is for those who use power hungry plugins or have large busy sites. It's the choice for those who have serious WooCommerce needs. It also suits those with more than 10,000 visitors a month or those who produce large amounts of media content.

The Growth plan is for those who need ongoing development and are growing their online present. We bring out the serious digital marketing tools to monitor effectiveness and help you optimise your site.  This is paid monthly so you can downgrade to a lower plan with ease.

Some hosts allow emails from their website servers, but it's not best practice.  Email activity affects a website's performance and it creates a single point of failure.

Most domain registrars allow you forward domain name emails to your personal email for free (ie. info@yourdomainname.com to marysmith@gmail.com)

If you need to reply from your domain name email you need an email service:

Again, domain name registrars (like Godaddy and 123 Reg) offer this, but it could be worth checking those with a reputation for providing emails:

G-suite by Google is one of the best and includes other benefits.

Zoho mail has a FREE package where you can receive and send emails from their site.  To get these emails to your computer's email program (via POP3 or IMAP) you need a paid version ($1 per month for each user ).

RankSpace  has small business accounts at $2 per month each user with 25 GB space.

The following were recommended and used by developers we trust.

We started hosting because we found good hosts went bad and we could not offer support until our clients moved.

Fortunately, with cloud services like Google, Amazon, Vultr and Digital Ocean we can do the service side ourselves and we are not locked in.

We use cloud hosting running Ubuntu. Nginx is the public-facing server. Everything runs on solid-state drives (SSD) and for our UK customers we use a London based data-centre. Presently we are running PHP 8 and upgrade to the latest version when all plugins become compatible.

We don't have an uptime guarantee, but we expect 99.9% minimum up time.

We add you to our "Master Dashboard" where we have the status of key indicators.  With critical indicators (downtime and security) we have alert emails to respond quickly.

We connect you to uptime monitoring and backups to Amazon's servers as well as our own.

We manually update software daily (at least).

We check plugin version numbers. With major releases (and some minor ones) we check "change logs" for individual plugins. Sometime we can anticipate conflicts and will test on our own site first.

We tell you of news that could affect your businesses online. (for example GDPR, changes in Google search and major changes in software)

There are several other monthly tasks such as cache clearing for speed, server report monitoring and spam comment clearing for those with blogs and so on.

Much of our work is in being actively involved in the WordPress community. Influencing, beta testing software and staying on top of developments online to properly look after our clients' interests.

Yes, no system is ever 100% secure, but we greatly reduced chances and protect you from being blacklisted.

Every site we manage is protected by VirusDie  (worth $15 per month). Those on the Power package and above get extra protection with MalCare. (worth $99 per year).

We will fully clean any hacked site within 24 hours.
